Cappadocia Green Tour Program
If you are ready for a wonderful experience with our tour, we will inform you about our program.
First of all, we will pick you up from the hotels you are staying at. Thus, our tour will begin. The first route of our tour organized by professional guides will be Ihlar Valley. You will take a walk in the valley in question, walk for 4-5 kilometers and witness the beauties here.
Ihlara Valley is a point where nature and history are intertwined. It is also located in the Guzelyurt district of Aksaray. This is a valley with thousands of living spaces. It is about 200 meters wide and has a depth of 150 meters. This is also has a length of 18 kilometers. It has an important value in the world. Because it is the largest canyon in which there is a living space, that is, where people have lived. The main source of this living area is the Melendiz River. Due to the fact that the rocks forming the valley are easily chipped, many areas have been created for these rocks. Rock carving places have become one of the most important civilizations and cultural places in the world as a result of the churches being carved here.
When we look at the Ihlara Valley from a different perspective, its nature draws attention. The greenery on which the vineyards and gardens extend has added even more beauty to its nature. For this reason, it is a valley that should be visited by everyone who wants to get away from the stress of life and to be alone with nature. While absorbing nature, you will also encounter many historical places. That’s why we define Ihlara Valley as a place where history and nature are intertwined. The churches carved into the rocks, in which the most beautiful frescoes are located, have survived from thousands of years ago to the present day.
There are an average of 105 churches in the Ihlara Valley. Unfortunately, only 14 of these churches are open to visitors. You can see and visit the Batkın Church, Bahattin Samanlıgı, Bezirhane Church, Ala Church, Karagedik Churches here. At the same time, the Church of Saint George, Direkli Church, Egritaş Church, Prenliseki, Kokar, Yılanlı, Sumbullu, and Agacaltı Churches are also located here.
It is a small village located on the edge of the Melendiz Stream, in the middle of the Ihlara Valley. It would be useful to add that it is a village named after the Greeks. The word ‘Peristirema’ became Turkish in time and took the name Belisırma. The word means ‘beautiful view’. However, there are several different rumors about the name of the village. One of these rumors is that it got its name from a horseman who settled in this village at the time and had a silver thread on his waist. This village, which was quite large in its time, has migrated to different cities over time. Later on, the village got smaller and smaller and became what it is today.
Although it is not possible to reach clear information about when the village in question was founded, according to what is known, its history dates back to before the Seljuk period. We know that the first Christians lived here. We can deduce this from some of the frescoes in the Kırkdamaltı Church.
As we mentioned before, 14 churches in Ihlara Valley are open to visitors. However, 7 of these 14 churches are located in Belisırma Village. These churches are Direkli Church, Batkın Church, Kırkdamaltı Church. Apart from this, Karagedik Church, Ala Church, Bezirhane Church, and Bahattin Samanlığı Churches are also located in Belisırma Village.
While we’re at Belisırma Village, we’re going to have a rest and eat. We will offer you our menu consisting of 3 different kinds of food, and we will continue on our way when you are tired. The next stop of the Cappadocia Green Tour will be Selime Monastery.
It appears at the end of the Ihlara Valley. Selime Monastery, which has a beauty worth seeing, hosts an average of 300 thousand tourists. The monastery, which has the reputation of being the largest monastery in Cappadocia, is located in Selime Town. Selime Monastery has 100 places carved on the rock. It is also located in the Selime Sultan Tomb opposite the monastery. If you find the time, we say that you should definitely visit this tomb.
The monastery in question was a major factor in the training of the greatest clergy of the time. Likewise, the point that made this monastery special was that the first loud ritual was held here. It has an aura that will impress you with its frescoes. Apart from these, there is also a kitchen in this monastery. It was built in the form of a pyramid and was connected to other rooms. Selime Monastery consists of two floors and also has a courtyard. According to rumors, it is known that the first sound ritual was held in its courtyard as well as military meetings.
Underground Cities Turkey Cappadocia
Underground cities are the most valuable and important historical places of the Cappadocia region. It amazes people how people who lived thousands of years ago built these cities under the ground, away from technology. For this reason, Cappadocia Green Tour also includes underground cities for you to see these places and witness these masterpieces. Along with the interesting doors, you will witness here, there are also different mechanisms. As we mentioned before, we have professional guides during this tour. For this reason, we recommend that you listen carefully to the stories our guides will tell.
Underground cities are structures that are built by people to protect themselves from armies, enemies, and foreigners, located meters below the ground. Using a clever strategy, they built the tunnels to these underground cities in a very narrow way. In this way, they could slow down the enemies trying to enter here, thus killing them and keeping themselves out of danger.
It is known that there are nearly 200 underground cities in the Cappadocia region. But not all of these underground cities have been found yet. People living in the past have created many living spaces under the ground just like on the top and started to live there. Some underground cities become very large. Some of them have a capacity of 5 thousand people. While some underground cities consist of four floors, some can go down to 8 floors.
The Cappadocia region includes underground cities such as Ozkonak Underground City, Derinkuyu Underground City, Kaymaklı Underground City. Apart from this, it is also home to many cities such as Ozluce, Mazı, Acıgol Tatlarin, Agırnas Underground City.
Cappadocia Green Tour will end with underground cities. After that, as at the beginning of the tour, it will end by picking you up with private vehicles and dropping you off at the hotels where you stay. As a result of this tour, you will have a lot of information, fun times, and good memories.
What time does the Cappadocia Green Tour start and how long does it last?
First of all, we have a request from our guests regarding our tour in which you will visit many places in the Cappadocia region. If you want to join the tour, we ask you to allocate a whole day just for this. You will visit many places, so it is good for you not to make any different plans for that day since it is a long tour. Cappadocia Green Tour starts around 09:00 and lasts until evening, that is, until sunset. As a result, we can say that this tour is an average of 9-10 hours. For this reason, we will be asking you to spend your whole day on our green tour so that you can have a more enjoyable time and, so to speak, do not put your feet in the same shoes.
